ANY IDEA WHO SAID THIS? “I look back on it and I actually thought I truly could have shot 59 without doing much more other than making a few more putts. I put myself in opportunities on each hole to shoot 59 that day, which is really, really cool.”

BRAIN TEASER: In the history of the PGA TOUR, how many times has a score of 59 or lower been posted?

BOTTOMS UP! Jim Beam Black has been named the “Official Bourbon of the PGA of America and PGA Championship.” Jim Beam Black will present specialized branding on menu boards and concession stands, along with additional signage and tabletop promotions in targeted hospitality areas, including the Centennial Club.

“The PGA of America and PGA Championship are delighted to align with top products and brands for our Members and spectators to enjoy,” said PGA of America Senior Director of Partnerships Luke Reissman. “We welcome Jim Beam to our portfolio of partners, as we begin the countdown to the historic 100th PGA Championship.”

The drivers are available in two patriotic themed colorways - Blue Camo and Desert Sand. An F8+ version of both colors is available through custom order. Both arrive at retail on Friday, April 27th, 2018.

WEB GEMS:

COULD IT BE HIS TURN? Padraig Harrington is set to throw his hat in the ring for the 2020 Ryder Cup captaincy, insisting it would be “good timing for me” rather than running the risk of waiting for a possible crack at the job on Irish soil six years’ later. READ MORE>>>

REALLY?! Golf's Ryder Cup will be played in France this fall, but a group of NFL and NBA stars led by Aaron Rodgers and Chris Paul will square off in a similar format this summer. So let the lobbying to be a captain's pick begin! Turner Sports and CAA Sports announced "The Showdown," which will take place June 27-28 at Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Uncasville, Conn. READ MORE>>>

ANSWERS: “I look back on it and I actually thought I truly could have shot 59 without doing much more other than making a few more putts. I put myself in opportunities on each hole to shoot 59 that day, which is really, really cool.”--Jordan Spieth on his final round at the 2018 Masters. If he had been successful, its highly, highly doubtful the ruling bodies of the game, which are closely aligned with Augusta National members, would have found it, “really, really cool!” Spieth finished posting a 64, for those who may have forgotten.

January of 1999, David Duval became only the third player in PGA TOUR history to shoot a 59 in an official event at the Bob Hope Classic. Since then there have been five more 59s and one 58 shot on the PGA TOUR — including two of them shot by 2018 Ryder Cup USA Captain Jim Furyk. Al Geiberger was the first one to do it, in the second round of the 1977 Memphis Classic, (29/30). Chip Beck was second, in the third round of the 1991 Las Vegas Invitational, (30/29). Others to accomplish it are: Paul Goydos, second round of the 2010 John Deere Classic, Stuart Appleby, final round of the 2010 Greenbrier Classic, Justin Thomas, first round at the 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii and Adam Hadwin, third round at the 2017 CareerBuilder Challenge. In total, there have been a grand total of 9 times that a sub 60 score has been recorded on the PGA TOUR. There has yet to be anyone to shoot 59 or lower on the European Tour.
