ANY IDEA WHO SAID THIS? “I just couldn't feel more lucky to be here right now. Ten months ago I was laying on my couch and couldn't get up. So many people sacrificed to get me here, especially my family. A lot of people believed in me, put in a lot of hard work. To go out and have my first start back on the PGA TOUR to shoot 59, I just couldn't be more proud of myself right now.”

BRAIN TEASER: Joaquin Niemann is one of three players born outside the United States to win on the PGA TOUR before the age of 21 in the last 95 years. Can you name the other two to accomplish the feat?

LET’S DO BUSINESS: The PGA TOUR and YETI Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: YETI) announced a partnership that makes YETI the “Official Insulated Cup” and “Official Insulated Cooler” of the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions.

The multi-year agreement includes product licensing, as well as the exclusive right to sell YETI drinkware and coolers at TOUR-operated tournament retail outlets and TPC facilities, a number of which host TOUR events. Further, YETI plans to work with various PGA TOUR tournaments to display YETI coolers and utilize them in player practice areas. The PGA TOUR will also feature YETI drinkware at its Signature Drink programs at various PGA TOUR tournaments throughout the season.

“Over the past decade, YETI has established the standard for high-quality outdoor products with its hard and soft coolers and vacuum-insulated drinkware,” said Brian Oliver, PGA TOUR Executive Vice President, Corporate Partnerships. “As an outdoor sport, our fans and players will put the YETI products to good use, whether out on the course with friends or at a PGA TOUR tournament. The Signature Drink program allows fans to enjoy beverages all day and go home with a unique keepsake.”

This is the third league partnership for YETI, following NASCAR and PBR, though the brand does have relationships with several individual sports franchises. “We were thrilled at the opportunity to expand our partnership with the PGA TOUR in order to more broadly engage with fans and players, while simultaneously promoting sustainability and the reduction of single use plastic,” said Melisa Goldie, Chief Marketing Officer at YETI. Financial terms of the arrangements were not disclosed.

MORE IRONS IN THE FIRE: Cleveland Golf has released the Launcher HB Turbo Irons, Launcher UHX Irons and Launcher Halo. The Launcher HB Turbo Irons promise maximum forgiveness and an easy-to-hit to profile specifically targeted at game improvement players seeking more distance and more accuracy. “These irons allow game improvement players the ability to get the ball into the air better than any iron on the market,” said Dustin Brekke, Director of Engineering, Research and Development. “Now with a thinner, hotter face, the Launcher HB Turbo Irons give you a half club more distance over the previous generation.”

Launcher HB Turbo Irons incorporate a new high strength, turbocharged face insert, according to Cleveland that is thinner. The redesign HiBore Crown pushes the center of gravity low and deep within the base of the Launcher HB Turbo Irons.

The Launcher UHX Irons are considered the most progressive combo set of hollow and cavity back irons on the market, according to Cleveland. “This combination of cavity back and utility irons into one set offers the perfect blend of distance and accuracy,” Brekke said. “A new variable face pattern delivers more distance due to hotter faces with better mass distribution.”

The UHX Irons incorporate hollow long irons (4-7-irons) for distance and forgiveness, with lower and deeper weighting compared to traditional cavity back irons. Meanwhile, the 8-iron through pitching wedge features a cavity back construction.

The Launcher Halo is a versatile scoring club, Cleveland said. Featuring new Gliderail Technology, it is optimized for better turf interaction from the toughest of lies. “We all hit it in the rough and find ourselves in difficult positions out on the course,” said Brian Schielke, Marketing Director at Cleveland Golf. “And it’s those tough places that add big numbers to our scorecards. The new Launcher Halo helps us not only get out of those tough spots, but helps us excel from them and get into scoring position. It’s so much more than a typical hybrid.”

The Launcher HB Turbo Irons, Launcher UHX Irons and Launcher Halo officially launch in North America on October 4, 2019. The Launcher HB Turbo Irons are priced at $799.99 MAP for a seven-piece steel set. For graphite options, the Launcher HB Turbo Irons are $899.99 MAP for a seven-piece set.
