ANY IDEA WHO SAID THIS? “If you're playing to be second best I don't know what you're playing for. Seems very simple for me. I don't know anybody in any professional sport that wants to be second best.”

BRAIN TEASER: Kevin Na became the first player to make a triple bogey in a final round and go on to win since who else did it? HINT: 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

HELLO OLD FRIEND: FootJoy is bringing back the best selling shoe category of all time, Contour Series. It is now wrapped in refined leather and a relaxed hybrid styling. Available in a cleated Contour and spikeless Contour Casual version, both feature slip-lasted construction found in most sneakers.

“Building off of the successes of the Contour Series, we wanted to reinvent the category with a more contemporary design,” said Rickard Frye, Director of Product Management, FJ Footwear. “This line of Contour is completely reimagined from the ground up with an entirely new outsole configuration, a luxurious new upper package, but the same Contour fit and commitment to comfort that has made it one of the most successful golf product franchises of all time.”

The Contour Series line features contemporary cup sole construction and an ERGO-sole that is proven to be comfortable and durable, the company said. The updates sole has been modified with a wedge-shaped EVA insert to improve cushioning, reduce weight and add ergonomic support. The upper construction features proprietary NappaLUXE leather. It has one-year waterproof protection.

The cleated Contour ($129.95 Laced/ $159.95 BOA) and spikeless Contour Casual ($119.95 Laced) are available now.

Launching in unison with Contour footwear is the new ContorFLX glove. “We continue to push for new ways to advance al of our products and that’s evident here with the all-new CntourFLX,” said Maria Bonzagni, Senior Director for Acushnet Clove and FJ Gear. “We’ve identified key enhancements to provide softness, fit and excellent durability, all while maintaining a price-point that will appeal to all golfer.”

ContorFLX uses precision placement of PowerNet mesh along the back of the hand, with finer elastic across the knuckles for increased moisture control. ContourFLX uses a 3-Dimensional proprietary angled ComfortTab Velcro closure tab. The new ContorFLX has a suggested retail price of $17.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE? “There is a problem with how golfers are introduced to the game. It is our mission to give these new golfers the best program and technology possible to make becoming a life-long golfer a fun experience. Our team has been hard at work over the last 10 years to build the programs, technology, training, and network to help carry out this mission. We believe the foundation is in place to set our big Network-wide goal.  We are going to introduce 1,000,000 new golfers to the game and get them to shoot even par (36) for 9 holes by the end of 2025! The best part is we can guide golfers and actually measure it with our technology.” READ MORE>>>

BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT TO BELIEVE: Maybe the ruling bodies can chew on this: Kevin Na sets a PGA TOUR record at the 2019 Shriners for most feet of putts made (558’11”) in a 72-hole event (ShotLink era). Is it still all about how far the ball travels? Oh ya, Na needed extra holes to secure his fourth career PGA TOUR victory.
