Adams Golf wants to make a bunch of new friends. The company is enlisting the help of social networking to generate some face time. It’s also offering up some of its product to entice those on the World Wide Web to divert their attention towards the brand. Historically, the golf industry hasn’t embraced viral marketing strategies. But in the case of Adams Golf that no longer seems to apply. The golf industry is also a big fan of the herd mentality. Where one goes another follows, so in the event Adams is successful, don’t be surprised if other companies follow. Here’s the promotion: Adams Golf plans to give away 100 of its
Idea a7OS hybrids and hybrid iron sets in conjunction
with the company's new fan page on Facebook.
Fans enter the contest at or
through by submitting
their name, a short sales pitch as to why they need new
golf clubs along with any photos and videos that support
their love of the game. The fans then invite their friends
through Facebook Share or simple email to vote for them
in the contest. It will run for five weeks, with the top-10
vote getters each week winning a set of Idea a7OS
hybrid-irons. The next ten top vote getters will win
individual Idea a7OS hybrids. A total of 100 prizes will
be awarded.
"Facebook and other social networking sites like it have
clearly become valuable avenues for companies like
Adams Golf to interact directly with their fans," said
Scott Blevins, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Adams Golf. "With the new Idea a7OS line being launched, we knew we had a great opportunity to take advantage of this new medium in a unique way. Our hybrids clearly already have a loyal following so we look forward to seeing how creative our fans will get in order to win one of the 100 prizes." The contest is open until September 28.
