Home PUSHING ITS WEIGHT AROUND

Mizuno has introduced its Grain Flow Forged MP-53 irons featuring a Diamond Muscle design and “V” slot Milled Pocket Cavity. According to the company, what sets this MP iron apart is an innovative CNC milled Pocket Cavity (3-7 irons), which removes 14 grams of weight. This weight was strategically redistributed, Mizuno said, around the cavity to achieve the largest sweet area ever in an MP iron. The 8-PW utilizes a Solid Power Bar design, for the purpose of further enhancing a solid feel in the scoring irons.
“The MP-53 is really a testament to Mizuno’s unmatched Global R&D capabilities,” said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Mizuno USA Golf Division. “Our design team was able to succeed in something that is extremely difficult to do in iron design. Through the use of advanced design technologies they were able to significantly expand the sweet area of this game enhancement iron, without enlarging the head itself. What that means is that better player’s are going to reap the benefits of greatly increased forgiveness, without having to sacrifice when it comes to head size, feel, workability or control. It is truly a breakthrough in forged iron design.”
The MP-53 will be offered in both right handed and left handed models with True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 and R300 steel shafts for a retail price of $899.99, and also available with Project X 5.5 shafts for $999.99. The MP-53 irons will also be immediately available as part of Mizuno’s Performance Fitting System. To learn more visit www.mizunomatch.com.
