Its the start of a New Year, which for some means resolutions to change their ways. But for Callaway Golf, that may not necessarily be the case. The company announced on December 30th that a few of its products have been highlighted by Golf Digest’s annual "Hot List" issue, arriving on newsstands January 4th. Leading the way were Gold Medals for Callaway's Forged Composite drivers, Diablo Octane and RAZR Hawk, as well as an Editor's Choice award for the Company's new RAZR X Irons. Callaway and Odyssey dominated the Gold Medal count, according to the company. by winning 14 top distinctions, five more than the nearest competitor. With 16 total medals, Callaway said it received more Hot List awards than any other golf equipment manufacturer for the fifth straight year.
Every 2011 product from Callaway and Odyssey was awarded a Hot List medal, the company proudly stated. Additionally, Callaway and Odyssey feature a Gold Medal winner in each of the nine Hot List product categories, and is the only manufacturer to accomplish this, it said. The Company was also awarded multiple Gold Medals in the Driver, Fairway, Hybrid, Game Improvement Iron and Blade Putter classes
As Callaway pointed out, it has been highly recognized in prior years by Golf Digest’s Hot List. It remains to be seen whether consumers will equally embrace the products as the team of equipment editors, scientists, player panelists and retailers have that were a part of the process to determine the best of the best. In past years, based on sales volume, the designations haven’t translated as forecasted. Maybe that will be a New Year’s resolution for 2011...
