Home McDowell goes to a new driver

Graeme McDowell is in Singapore this week playing in the Barclays Singapore Open in Sentosa. Co-sanctioned by the European and Asian tours, the event will be played over two venues the Serapong and Tanjong. However, McDowell discovered he had a present waiting for him after his arrival. “Nice surprise waiting in room here in Singapore. Hot off the production line. Prototype @ClevelandGolf Classic driver,” he said on Twitter to his 257,000+ followers. “Old school persimmon lines with 21st century technology inside. It's built on the @ClevelandGolf 290 Launcher platform,” he said minutes later and linked to an image. “Love deep face drivers. Cannot wait to hit this tomorrow. What you guys think?” he continued linking to another image and inviting feedback from his fans. “Same spec as my current driver. 46.5 @AldilaGolf Green Eye RIP shaft. 9.0 degree. Well let you know how testing goes,” he promised.

GMAC was third on Sentosa Island last year (fifth in 2009) and may be coming onto some form, as he posted four sub-70 rounds at Sheshan International, last week, en route to finishing third in China. Unlikely he’ll use his Classic looking driver this week. Then again, you never know!
