Keegan Bradley’s longtime Odyssey gamer, “The Tooth,” broke during a match with Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler last Tuesday afternoon.
While using the putter like a cane, the spud (a barrel-shaped, extended piece of metal that secures the head to the shaftwhen glued) snapped off. Coincidentally, the PGA TOUR Odyssey Rep had worked with Keegan last week at Firestone on a back up. At Kiawah, the Rep was able to remove the broken spud from his old shaft and re-head it with a new White Hot XG Sabertooth head. Bradley was reported to have felt much more comfortable looking down and seeing his old shaft with its wear marks and “broken in” feel. The new Tooth, now named Tooth 2, received praise from him after the first round. "But Odyssey made me a putter that’s exactly the same. It feels great. It’s my old shaft in there. No worries at all. It’s amazing, with my old shaft, it looks the exact same, there’s no difference,” Bradley stated. In defending his title, he finished in a tie for third.
