The new Titleist 913 fairway and hybrid prototypes made its PGA TOUR debut at the Barclays this week. According to the company, it has a total of 56 combined fairways (36) and hybrids (20) in play at the event, including 11 new 913Fd (7) and 913F (4) fairway metals and four 913H hybrids.
Among the players putting the new equipment in play, Titleist said, include
: Greg Chalmers (913Fd/13.5, 913F/17, 913Hd/20); Ben Crane (913Fd/15); Ben Curtis (913Fd/13.5, 913Hd/18); Brian Davis (913H/19); Brendon De Jonge (913F/15); Graham DeLaet (913F/13.5); Martin Flores (913F/13); Chris Kirk (913Hd/20); Rory McIlroy (913Fd/13.5, 913Fd/18.5) and Jimmy Walker (913Fd/15, 913Fd/18) who was in contention last week to win.
The switch for McIlroy is believed to be significant considering he has played the Titleist 906F 3- and 5 metals for the majority of his professional career. He recently replaced his 18* 906F2 5-metal at the Bridgestone Invitational with a Titleist 910F 17* model. He had it in play when he won the PGA Championship by 8 shots.
