Home Nike adds Control

Back in January, Nike Golf introduced Lunar Ascend, which it described as, “the perfect summer golf shoe.” Since its ascension, Nike has added a new Lunar Control, which makes its debut at the Children’s Miracle Network in Orlando this week and then in Dubai for the European Tour’s DP World Tour Championship. According to Nike, the difference between the original Nike Lunar Control golf shoe and the new Lunar Control is a full-length Lunarlon cushioning system. Nike believes it offers lightweight comfort along with optimal ground-feel, and all-day support throughout the entire shoe.

The Lunarlon cushioning system is a proprietary technology from Nike. It features a Lunarlon Foam midsole, which Nike describes as lightweight, durable and highly responsive. Another difference is increased Nike Flywire technology, wrapping from the midfoot to heel to provide targeted support and lightweight structure. Even with more technology built into the new Lunar Control, Nike has reduced the weight of the original from 14.6oz to 13.4oz (.6oz per shoe).

“We take inspiration from our athletes and work to amplify performance in every aspect of their game,” said Nike Golf’s Footwear Product Director, Lee Walker. “When you’re on your feet all day every day, practicing and competing, every ounce makes a difference.” The new Nike Lunar Control footwear will be available starting January 1, 2013 with a minimum advertised price of $159.
