Fresh off a signed deal with Nike Golf, Rory McIlroy begins his defense of the Race to Dubai. The world’s #1 player has not finished worse than 11th in his five appearances at Abu Dhabi. He was tied 11th in his debut back in 2008, tied fifth in 2009, third in 2010 and second in both 2011 and 2012. For his 20 rounds in the event, he is a collective 71-under par with a stroke average of 68.45. His last 19 consecutive rounds have all been at par or better, with 15 of them in the 60s.The only time the Northern Irishman has been over par in the event was his first round in 2008, when he recorded a one over par 73.
