Home Oakley is putting its best foot forward

According to OAKLEY officials, its golf business doubled last year and it’s expecting it to double again this year. Golf is said to be its fastest growing division! Those kinds of words haven’t thrown around by anyone in a long, long time. Part of its mantra is to be lighter, lower and louder and it isn’t afraid to be considered anti-uniform when it comes to golf.

One of the products that it believes will deliver on these objectives and help to double its business is the CarbonPRO shoe. Lighter as in weighing only 16 ounces, and lower to the ground than ordinary tour shoes, it said, CarbonPRO features a dynamic motion control system for enhanced stability along with Red Code Plus carbonprotechnology for tuned shock absorption. A PINS Cleat System reduces weight and keeps a player’s foot closer to the ground for added stability. Its built with OAKLEY’s Coreflex technology for flexibility, plus an innovation the company calls Octostick that minimizes foot movement inside the shoe. It even has carbon fiber built into the sole of shoe.

“OAKLEY's ‘New’ CarbonPRO shoe is the first product in a line of planned Footwear launches designed to disrupt the marketplace and challenge established brands in the space that have failed to evolve,” explained Dave Ortley, Merchandise Director for Footwear and Accessories, adding to the louder portion of the manifesto. “CarbonPRO is an authenticator for OAKLEY with better players looking for the ultimate in cleated performance. The primary goal of the shoe is to balance the attributes better players look for: Ultimate stability, traction in all conditions, reduced overall weight, improved feel, control and power - with the durability and beauty that only full-grain leather can provide,” he continued.

“It is super light, ‘among the lightest full-grain leather cleated Tour shoes on the market’ and positions the foot close to the ground with the PINS cleat system and ultra-thin sole design.  Minimalist Design Theory considers the elimination of excess in pursuit of simplicity and we believe that the use of an exotic Performance material like CarbonFiber plays a critical role in helping us to achieve the desired result. Carbon Fiber's high strength to weight ratio allowed us to engineer an extra thin mid foot shank so we could reduce overall thickness and retain proper structure and support. HydroGauge waterproofing, OctoStick internal grip, Real CarbonFiber, EVA tongue top, Red Code + footbed cushioning, and external heel counter for a secure heel fit are all additional features that complete CarbonPRO's best in class performance package,” Ortley summed up.

Targeted for better players that prefer the benefits of cleats with the feeling of being anchored (sorry USGA) along with comfort, style and the durability of full-grain leather. The CarbonPRO is available at the retail price of $200.
