Home Everyone wins!

Anyone fortunate enough to be included in last week’s WGC Accenture Match Play Championship was guaranteed $46,000 just for showing up. The fickle nature of the format didn’t mean anyone had to play a complete 18 holes in order to collect it, which was the case in 22 opening round matches! If you won a match, the guaranteed direct deposit jumped to $96,000. Win two in a row and it meant a minimum of $144,000 for the effort. For those that completed the hat trick and won three times in a row, the pay check went to $275,000. However, that also meant only four were left standing after four grueling matches at The Golf Club at Dove Mountain.

In the end, Ian Poulter earned $500,000 for his fourth place finish, while Jason Day claimed $615,000 for winning the consolation match. Hunter Mahan didn’t win the Accenture Match Play Championship, but he was rewarded handsomely for his runner up finish. Mahan made $875,000 for the week. Matt Kuchar was not only the victor but made $1.5 million as well. Its hard to say anyone walked away a loser. Some won more than others!
