Home WHO NEEDS TICKETS?

Still basking in the aftermath of the Torrey Pines, the USGA announced that ticket applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. (EDT) Friday, Aug. 1, for the 2009 U.S. Open Championship. Next year’s national championship will be held at another public venue, Bethpage State Park (Black Course) in Farmingdale, N.Y., from June 18-21. Tickets have sold out for the past 22 years for the U.S. Open and judging on this year’s drama its unlikely it won’t do so again for 2009. In mid-August, a random drawing will be conducted from among the applications received by the deadline, the USGA said, and written notification will be mailed by the end of the month. Ticket applications are available online at www.usga.org/tickets. Daily Trophy Club tickets are $60 for the practice rounds (Monday-Wednesday) and $150 for Thursday only (Round One). Weekly grounds packages are $400. Daily Grounds tickets are $40 for the practice rounds (Monday-Wednesday) and $100 for the championship rounds (Thursday-Sunday). A Practice Round ticket package is also available at $80. Tickets are limited, and an $8 shipping and handling charge will be applied for each order. This will be the second time the U.S. Open will be held at Bethpage State Park (Black Course). The first was in 2002 and the winner was the same guy who came out on top in a playoff at Torrey Pines outside San Diego, CA.
